THE VEHICLE

Considered to be one of the most successful sports cars in Porsche’s history (prior to the Boxter and 997 Carrera), the 944 was introduced to the world in 1982. This lovely example is a true testament to the previous owners who have clearly looked after this car and, as a result we are pleased to offer this auction at NO RESERVE.

This particular model was first delivered on 12/01/1989 by Merlin Porsche in Chesterfield in what can be described as a true period correct 80s colour of Linen grey metallic with very rare navy electric lined Porsche logo seats, and a detachable roof panel.

Being a 1989 model, this 944 has the benefit of the upgraded and more desirable naturally aspirated 2.7 engine, which was only produced in limited numbers for one year and boasts 165bhp. Not only does this make it more rare, according to records there are currently only 41 RHD models left on the UK roads.

WALK AROUND VIDEO

Captured beautifully in this video, you will quickly be able to get a good idea of how stunning this car is from every angle and picture yourself in the drivers seat.

SERVICE HISTORY

This 944 is backed by a very thorough detailed service history supporting its mileage with 22 MOT certificates, 15 book service stamps by Porsche specialists and 6 brake fluid changes until 2007. The service invoices and receipts are then present from 2007 to date, which results in a huge A4 file of documents with service receipts and bills in excess of £17,000 over the years.

The car has benefited from having the brakes overhauled and fuel lines replaced recently along with other consumable items. All book packs and literature are present and the current owner describes this 944 as mechanically excellent and drives very well.

BODYWORK & INTERIOR

It is clearly evident that this Porsche has been well looked after and can be described as in great overall condition for its age. The bodywork is in excellent condition with only a few age related stone chips and one spot of rust in the passenger door about the size of a 50p coin (please refer to the pictures). Although this is present, this will not even be noticeable when you drive this beauty. We pride ourselves on full transparency and honesty.

As you step into this 80s classic, the dashboard brings back a feeling of true 80s nostalgia: you will be able to see the carpets, roof lining and cabin area in excellent condition all around.

Please keep in mind due to the age of the car there are some normal dashboard cracks present, but in our opinion this adds to the character of the car and goes well with the originality offered by this example.

WHEELS

All 4 wheels have been professionally refurbished and fitted with matching Continental tyres all around.

VERDICT

In today’s market it will be very hard to find a better example of this very original 944. With prices going one way, it is safe to assume that this is one of best value 80’s era sports cars money can buy which will provide the lucky new owner hours of driving enjoyment.

As an added bonus the owner will be leaving the 944 private plate with the car and hopes the new owner will cherish this 80s gem of a Garage Queen for many years to come.
