THE VEHICLE

Ford Motor Company first launched the Sierra Cosworth in 1982. The Sierra became the tenth most popular car in Britain. It dominated motorsport in the 1980’s and 1990’s. This incarnation (originally a Ford Motor Company vehicle) is a Sapphire Cosworth derivative with four-wheel drive, which ford officially released in 1990, however this particular example was first registered on 25th January 1991.

As well as being in exceptional condition for its age, this example enjoys ‘the right’ modifications which further enhance its appeal. With a kerb weight of 1135kg and 220hp through a 5 speed Ferguson 4×4 MT75 gearbox, it was no slouch!

This particular ‘Ebony Black’ metalic example has:

  • Siemens 55lb injector
  • MSD Chip
  • T34 Turbo
  • 3 Bar Map Sensor
  • RS500 style intercooler
  • Upgraded alloy radiator
  • Mongoose stainless exhaust system
  • Bosch 044 Fuel pump
  • Longstud Block
  • WRC head-gasket
  • GRP A Air filter

All the tasteful modifications has resulted in an increase to 425 BHP

WALK AROUND VIDEO

SERVICE HISTORY

This car has covered just short of 103,000 miles and was officially registered on the 25th January 1991 by Ford Motor Co, the service history of the car is quite extensive.

2x FMC services (1500/6000) followed by the following service intervals:

12185, 16598, 22754, 27957, 43037, 40966, 46110, 54688, 62093, 68154, 73991 (cambelt), 79346, 84694 (in 1999)

This car is backed with its MOT history and a fresh 12 months MOT, please note the odometer on the Cosworths only go up to 99,999k before turning over at 0 again, therefore the mileage displaying on the odometer is without the 1.

We would also like to flag the MOT station who did the MOT on the 23rd March 2020 entered this number without the 1 on the MOT database, which flags as a discrepancy, but we can assure any buyer this is not the case. For the avoidance of doubt the correct mileage as mentioned is just short of 103,000 miles

The car also comes comes with 2 keys.

BODYWORK & INTERIOR

For a car that is 31 years old this example is in almost immaculate condition with very good period correct black Recaro leather seats that bring a sense of nostalgia to any car enthusiast.

The bodywork is in very good condition and the paintwork (Ebony Black metallic) has just been polished and ceramic coated making it almost as good as the day it left the factory.

Internally this car benefits from a manual sunroof, which means there are no electrical problems to worry about.

WHEELS

The factory fitted 15×7 inch RS Sierra Cosworth multi-spoke ‘Shark Tooth’ alloy wheels are exceptionally clean as shown in the pictures.

VERDICT

A lovely example of a classic ‘fast Ford’ which enjoys ‘subtle’ performance modifications to enhance a fabulous driving experience. This example is one not to be missed and can be driven away with no issues by the new owner.

According to the owner it gets more appreciative looks than his Jaguar E-Type and Bullitt Mustang combined!
